چکیده

In the business process management parlance, different engagement models, such as bodyshopping, outsourcing, offshoring, etc. have evolved between the service providers and their clients over the last decade. The common denominator in these models is the distribution of work and/or that of workers across the globe. There is a gap in defining a framework to define different manifestations of globally distributed work. In this exploratory research, a unifying framework is proposed to characterize globally distributed work in order identify and explain different vendor-client engagement models. The proposed framework is applicable for any kind of work that is distributed across the globe. In this paper, the specific case of software development processes has been explained in terms of the type of the application, the type and location of the developer, and the holder of intellectual property (IP) rights. The role of IP rights in the evolution client-vendor engagement models has been explained.

A Software Inspection Process for Globally Distributed Teams

Globally distributed software development is an accepted trend towards delivering high-quality software to global users at lower costs. Globally distributed software development teams particularly face communication and coordination problems due to spatial, temporal and cultural separation between team members. Ensuring quality issues in such projects is an important issue. This paper presents ...

Taxonomy of Workflow Scheduling in Grids

Grid computing is a high performance computing environment consisting of thousands of computers, sensors and other resources which are geographically distributed or globally located. To get a work done by these grids, workflow scheduling is an important task to be considered. Workflow is concerned with the automation of procedures whereby files and data are passed between participants nodes, ac...

Metrics and Evaluation Tools for Patient Engagement in Healthcare Organization- and System-Level Decision-Making: A Systematic Review

Background Patient, public, consumer, and community (P2C2) engagement in organization-, community-, and systemlevel healthcare decision-making is increasing globally, but its formal evaluation remains challenging. To define a taxonomy of possible P2C2 engagement metrics and compare existing evaluation tools against this taxonomy, we conducted a systematic review.   Methods A broad search strate...

Towards Taxonomy-based Routing in P2P Networks

In Peer-to-Peer networks limited system resources prohibit broadcasting a query to all possible peers. Distributed Hash Table(DHT)-based approaches scale well, but do not consider ontological structures, such as existing classifications of peers in taxonomies. We investigate adaptive taxonomy-based routing overlays, restricting a search only to those peers offering possible results and present ...

Theory vs. Reality in Parallel and Distributed Real-Time Systems

A wide variety of scheduling models and algorithms exists for characterizing the behavior of distributed real-time systems. These models usually assume that system variables are known deterministically or can be characterized by stochastic behavior. We describe a more complete taxonomy for system variables and relate previous work to this taxonomy. We observe that most previous work in distribu...
